Forward is off for the next two weeks (25th and 1st being the kind of days id rather spend with my family instead of a club)... But we are working hard on everything forward now that we arnt in a crazy rush to get ready for next Thursday (come to think of it... I've yet to buy a Christmas present for my nan... yikes!) Anyways, we're working hard on a brand new design and identity for forward which will lead to an actual website (the one we have now is quite horrible I know)
In the meantime though, enjoy the podcasts at family dinners and brainwash your whole families and friends that forward is the place to be on Thursdays!!!

my 2 cents about dj-ing
I was told you can judge a person by the amount of passion he has towards music... I think that there is a bunch of us that love music so much, and love the way it makes us feel (you know that fuzzy feeling that gives you goosebumps cuz that tune is so bloody amazing) so much so that we set out to share these emotions and passion. That is, what I think make people want to become djs. It soon becomes a crusade, a mission to bring people to this state of mind. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. Sometimes it even gets frustrating... but when you do get through to people and connect with them through track selection it's just so damn worth it...
Some people see djing as sort of a competition though. I thought people in the music community would all agree to put aside the whole "quarterback gets the cheerleader captain" ideology... I thought we were the geeks who got beat-up in high school by the said quarterback... Maybe some of us turned into bullies and some decided to use djing as a means to release the bottled up childhood anger.
whatever... the causes really don't matter, the point is, if you don't know what I mean when I say "feeling that gives you goosebumps cuz that tune is so bloody amazing" and all you can think about when you're behind the decks is that you need to impress someone, YOU ARE WAY OFF!!! A bit of christmas spirit maybe?
I dont know what has gotten into people for the past couple of days... so much hate and agressity it's insane! where's all the love and christmas spirit and caroling and whatnot?
Going from one party to another, me and some friends cross another group of random unknown people on the street who decide to start yelling at us and threatening to beat us up... why?
My bet is punching bags will be a hot item this Christmas!

snow
You probably hadn't noticed but this city is covered and smothered in a thick layer of snow, effectively blocking half the city and paralyzing anyone who thought they were going half-way across the city using public transportation...
yup it's that time of the year... which means more drinking and partying cuz your semesters are done (or nearing) or you're off from work.. meh... anyways, even if you get in to work late smelling of cheap beer(10$ a pitcher) it's not like they're gonna fire you on the eve of christmas... and even if they fire you, hydro aint gonna cut you off during winter.
strap your boots and stop whinning about the cold, it'll get much hotter once you're on the dancefloor dancin' like crazy on mad d'n'b provided by bass-ic and plan-c

I've also decided that I was gonna use this blog for a lil' more than just posting the podcast and line-ups... you guys can check that out on a million other sites anyways(facebook, myspace, rave.ca, www.forwardmusicmontreal.com). I'll just use this to tell you about my personal experience in this whole music, djing, club thing... Doing this night has been an incredible source of inspiration and through it, I've met some amazing people... this blog will be the witness of just how fucking great people can be sometimes...
So the first chapter of this journal will be... yeah somewhat obvious... but oh so important. For the past months, we've been getting more and more new faces at the night and we've been getting so much appreciation for the work we do. Just about every week, someone tells me how much they love forward. Now I'm not trying to be pretentious or anything, I just wanna use this post as a big big big thank you to everyone who comes out and encourages us! It's incredibly heart-warming and it's what keeps us going! We've had a couple of rough nights where, everyone got to think, how the hell can we go on like this... but seeing the smiles on peoples faces when they hear some fresh tunes and seeing the guest djs have so much fun behind the decks... that pays off for the hardships and all
